Sheik of the burnin' sands

  • The first glimpse of what the new Superman will look like was released today. Is it just me, or does Brandon Routh look just a little bit like Zach Braff?
As far as I'm concerned, the Superman legend simultaneously hit its high and its low with Dean Cain.

  • Good name for a band: The Chimp Oppressor

  • Another good name for a band: The Best Kelly Ever

  • Here's a random memory: Gwar.
There was about a week there (about the same time I insisted upon having no less than three Anthrax posters in my room) when I thought Gwar were awesome. The reason for this, in common parlance -- I am a dork.
Gwar was actually a step up from the days when I would lay in the hammock behind our house in Houston, listening to Ray Stevens' Greatest Hits over and over and over on my little cassette player.
All my life I've dreamed of being in a band, but I suppose one of the reasons it was never to be is that I would have listed Gwar and Ray Stevens among my musical influences.

  • Hey, Dontail got all gussied up for his senior picture. Lookin' good, Dontail!
Here's what he's thinking in that picture: "Damn. I'm so sexy, I could shoot a bus."

Gregorian Dingo Shieks is a band I've wanted to form for years.

There is a band in St. Louis (and I don't remember the name) who is named after the condition of the bowel when the sphincter is in a semi-permanent state of contraction. As the enlarged area of the bowel forms behind the sphincter because of inability to evacuate, that area/condition has a name. It is also the name of the band. Wish I could remember what it is.

    They are a grunge band.

"When you get a haircut, be sure to go back home

When you get a haircut, get a barber you have known

Since you were a little bitty boy sittin' in a booster chair

Or you might look like Larry, Moe or Curly if a stranger cuts your hair"

I used to sit in a hammock on the shore of Lake Superior behind my grandparent's cottage listening to the above-referenced "Haircut Song" from Ray Stevens' "I Have Returned" album.

He has about 100 albums since the 60's. At least 20% carry "the best of", "the greatest hits", or "the very best, greatest hits" somewhere in the title.

And they usually have "The Streak", "Ahab the Arab", and "Would Jesus Wear a Rolex" in the song list.

Is there really a market out there for that much repetition?

Now what kind of gesture would invite a turkey shoot? I can't think of any....

Looks like Dontail's classmates were kind of wrong when they voted him "Most Likely to Succeed."

...unless they were voting him Most Likely To Succeed In Shooting A Bus.
